Home screen widgetsSoon

Two widgets can sit on an Android home screen: Habit tracker, which is this week's habits Monday to Sunday, and Today, which is the day's page and what is still open on it. Both are read-only, and tapping either opens the planner.

In short
  1. Add oneHold the home screen, pick Widgets, and find Planye.
  2. Habit trackerThis week's habits, a square per day.
  3. TodayThe day, and what is still open on it.
  4. ResizeBoth redraw at the new size rather than stretching.

Putting one on your home screen

  1. Install the Planye app and sign in.
  2. Hold an empty part of the home screen, press Widgets, and scroll to Planye.
  3. Drag Habit tracker or Today where you want it.

What each one shows

  • Habit tracker draws this week's habits with a square per day, Monday to Sunday, filled where you marked one.
  • Today draws the day's name and what is still open on it, and rolls over to tomorrow at midnight on its own.

Both use your theme, so changing the theme updates them too. Tapping either one opens the planner.

When a widget catches up

A widget shows a snapshot the app left behind, not live data. It refreshes when you open the app, so a habit you ticked on a laptop appears the next time Planye runs on the phone.

The date is the exception: Today rolls over at midnight on its own, without the app being opened.

Can I tick a habit from the widget?

No. Both are read-only. Tapping one opens the planner on the page it is about, which is one press away from marking anything.

Why does the habits widget not show how many I have done?

On purpose: the filled squares are the whole picture. A number sitting on your home screen all day starts to read as a score, and Planye doesn't keep score.

Is there an iPhone widget?

Not yet. These two are Android only for now.

My widget is showing last week.

Open the app once. It only knows what the app last left it, so a phone that has not run Planye in a while has an old picture on it.

I use Planye in a browser. Can I still have these?

No. A widget needs the Android app. A browser can still put Planye on your home screen as an icon. See Putting it on your phone.
